Unusual Ceremony

It seems like whenever I get out in the street in Taipei especially during the weekend that I will find something interesting. I caught this unusual ceremony by complete coincidence. It is so strange that it is better that you take a look at it and see it for yourself. Someone told me that it was a religious ceremony but they could not explain it.

It is not that unusual in Taiwan.

The thing happening here is, the gods of one temple will visit another temple. The people will carry the gods to the location in a parade. The set off fireworks is mainly from store owners who want to get the god’s attention, because they want the god’s blessing for good business and wealth.

Well, that’s what my Taiwanese girlfriend tol me!

It was my first time to see this but people have been telling me that it is not uncommon. It caught me by surprise, especially the “giants”.
