Taiwan Knife Massage

Massage is part of the Taiwanese life style.   When I am in the USA if I were to describe a massage I would use adjectives like, relaxing, tranquil, comforting, sensual.  In Taiwan there is one good word to describe a massage….PAIN!  Taiwanese feel like if they are not getting hurt that they are not getting their moneys worth so massage therapists know how to inflict pain and do.  If you are new to Taiwan keep that in mind.   There are all kinds of massage styles but recently I found a new one…..Knife Massage.  I was walking in one of the underground malls and a lady asked me if I wanted a Knife Massage.  I was like what?  She said don’t worry the blades are dull and I won’t cut you.   So I gave it a try.  Getting beat with 2 meat cleavers actually felt pretty good.

So so scary and funny! I will not try that on my back, so she won’t cut me accidentally.

Yes I tried it and it felt good. As you may know many massages in Taiwan are painful but this type is not. The blades are dull and they are not hitting you on bare skin so you will not get cut. They are also well trained and just hit your muscles not your bones. If you get a chance try it, I know that you will like it.
