The “Green Island Group of Six” did a DIY (do it yourself) project at the W&W Jewelry Museum in Linkou. We each did a different project so the steps and procedures varied. To simplify things I just want to briefly explain some of the steps that I needed to do to make my project, along with some photos, then show our finished products.
1. Measure finger to figure the length of silver wire needed. 2. Heat the wire to make it more pliable. 3. Flatten it. 4. Stamp in lettering of choice on the inside part of the ring. 5. Texture the outside of the ring. 6. Saw to the right length. 7 Bend it into the shape of a ring. 8. File the ends for a perfect fit. 9. Weld it together. 10. Tap it to size. 11. Soak it in sulfur. 12. Polish.
Overall I think that it was more complicated than we thought that it would be but in the end we were happy with the results. Emotionally we moved from being terrified to thrilled. I look forward to doing this again. The staff was great and worked hard to insure that our products came out good. I highly recommend this but expect the project to take longer than you think. Our projects were estimated to be in the 90 to 120 minute range but we got there at 10:00 am and got out at 3:30 pm. Some of that was a lunch break and museum tour. All of it was enjoyable just allow yourself enough time if you go.
