I have been to Pingxi a number of times but never hiked any of the nearby trails. This time I went there specifically to hike. The easiest way to find the Mt. Xiaozi Hiking Trail is to take the 795 bus from the Muzha MRT and get off at the Pingxi stop. Once alighting from the bus continue in the same direction that the bus was traveling for about 500 feet (about 160 meters).
You will see the trail entrance with a small waterfall on one side. There are direction signs but the wording is worn off. After climbing the stairs that begin at the trail entrance it levels off and from that location there are 3 separate very steep climbs with great views from the top. I climbed all three. There are steps carved in the stone and ropes which makes it fairly easy to climb. The day was perfect, clear and dry. I wouldn’t want to attempt that climb in wet weather. This hike isn’t suited for people that are afraid of heights.
