Alishan Dawn View

There is a bus from Taipei West Bus Station near Taipei Main Station that leaves for Alishan on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:45 pm. and returns at 11:30 am the following day arriving 6 hours later.  This allows the visitor to follow the dream of catching a beautiful sunrise at Alishan.  The bus arrives about 3:00 am giving you time to get into position to wait for the sunrise either by walking or by tour.  I wanted to do this for many years and finally gave it a try.   Weather conditions which can change very rapidly did not permit a sunrise view on my visit.  Just to keep this in perspective, in case you want to go, I heard of a story of a lady who went 72 times without seeing the sunrise. If you do get to see the sunrise count your blessings and send me a photo.  It is reasonable to expect a nice dawn view of a sea of clouds.  There are also other interesting things in the area to do and see before the 11:30 return bus departure.
