Turtle Island is located about 6 miles east of Wushih Harbor (30 minute boat ride). To visit the island you need an admission permit and they say it takes 3 to 20 days.
In 1977 people who lived on the island were relocated and it became a military base from that time until 2000. It is now a tourist destination and conservation area. The number of visitors per day are limited and access on the island is limited.
The tour boat made a circle around the island. The island is about 1 square mile in area. The highest point is 1316 feet above sea level. On one side of the island the water is a completely different color because of an underwater hot spring and you can smell the sulfur. You can see the color change in some of the photos.
There is a lake on the island and we walked around it. I also found the military tunnels very interesting.
