Taiwan has more than 15,000 Temples. About 10,000 of them are registered as Taoist. The majority of Temples here seem to be a mix of Taoism, Buddhism and Confucianism. The only thing that I know for sure about Taoism is that their Temples are the most ornate. Since stand alone Buddhist Temples are not nearly as common or as ornate when a fantastic one is found it deserves a mention. The Chengtian Zen Buddhist Temple is stunningly set on the mountain side. All I can say it that if you are afraid of heights don’t look down. There is a lot of construction going in here so in the future it should be even better than it is now.
From Yongning MRT Station just follow Chengtian Road up the mountain and you will find the Temple. If you are on foot, there are hiking trails up. Beautiful mountain hiking trails are also accessible from the Temple.
