If you are from the USA chances are good that you have never seen scooter mittens so I thought that I would give you a few photos. There may be another name for these but with the photo I am sure that you will get the idea. Usually in the USA I don’t wear gloves until it is maybe freezing. The other day when I was driving my scooter I put on a pair of gloves that I carry in my seat storage. Later I checked the weather and found the temperature to be 68 degrees. I thought about that. There is an actual temperature and then there is a feels like temperature. When it gets cool in Taiwan it often feels 5 to 9 degrees cooler than the actual temperature. When you change elevations like riding through the mountains the temperature can be substantially cooler than what the weather channel reports. Couple that with a 30 mile an hour wind from the scooter speed and although the weather report is 68 degrees it feels like 40. For many Taiwanese the scooter is their main means of transportation and they drive the scooter everyday even in typhoons. You need to dress for the occasion and scooter mittens are a pretty cool idea.
