Bayan Hot Springs

Bayan Hot Springs was a recent goal of mine to find. It is located on the east side of Yangmingshan National Park. The trail starts near the Bayan Hot Spring Resort. To find the hot spring you have to ignore warning signs, gates and cross a stream. The signs are: 1. Hazardous Area No Entry. 2. No Entry into this Dangerous Area. Violators with be fined NT 15,000, 3. Rock Slide Area not Entry. The stream can be crossed in one of two ways, wading or stepping from rock to rock. I did it both ways. There were sandbags fastened to the rocks that made it relatively easy and that is what I would recommend. Where I waded across it was deeper than I expected at mid thigh. Once you get past all of these hurdles you will join all of the other people who did the same. I was there on a Monday and there were a lot of people, weekends must be really packed.
The hot springs is really interesting. There is one waterfall of steaming hot water and there is another waterfall of cold water. The streams come together and in the various pools you can get a whole range water temperature. They have a curtain as a make shift changing area. It is really a nice place.

Help! We are currently in Taipei and have already tried finding this trail once. We took bus 1717 to the last stop which was the Tien Lal Spring Resort. This doesn’t seem to be the same resort that the trail started at. How did you get there? We will try again tomorrow…. TIA
Tien Lai Spring Resort is close to Bayan Hotspring Resort but you are right they are not the same. You need to go about 1 km farther. If you can find the entrance road to the Bayan Hotspring Resort follow it. The trail starts right before you would enter the private resort.
i really like this waterfall, i also want a hot spa!
It is a really nice place but hard to find.
