Taiwanese Mushrooms

Have you ever eaten a Taiwanese Mushroom?  Have you ever picked one?  Have you ever grown one? Have you ever eaten Taiwanese Mushroom ice cream?  I can answer yes to all of those questions.

Taiwan has 56 types of mushrooms.  I was at a mushroom farm in the Taichung area in which you could pick your own mushrooms and they had all kinds of them.  They also had one thing that I haven’t seen in other areas and that was mushroom ice cream so of course I ate some.

We all have eaten mushrooms  cooked in Chinese dishes but at the night market you will find it as a stand alone delicacy.  Once I even saw potted mushrooms for sale in a night market.  You just put them in a dark corner in the house, spray them with water once a day and when they grow you have something good to eat.
