Lingyun Buddhist Temple
The Lingyun Buddhist is just down the road from the Guanyishan Visitor Center and just above the Lingyun Temple. This is one of my favorite Temples and I will list the reasons why. 1. It is a stand alone Buddhist Temple and it is big. Most Temples are Daoist and or a combination of Daoist and Buddhist. Because this is a stand alone Buddhist Temple and it is big makes it special. 2. The location is great, from the Temple you get a spectacular view. 3. The main hall houses an 11 meter (36 foot) Thousand-hand Guanyin statue. This is reported to be the largest indoor Buddhist statue in Southeast Asia. I have been there a number of times and have taken photos of the statue but it looks bigger in person than in the photos. 4. It was build in 1882 so it has some history behind it. 5. It is above the Lingyun Temple so you can get “2 Temples” for one visit and there is a bus stop at that Temple for the #785 bus and #20 if you want to take public transportation there. 6. The Temple is is located near the Treetop Walkway and hiking trails at Guanyin Mountain. 7. They offer a vegetarian buffet lunch on Saturday and Sunday.
I miss the vegetarian meals. They were delicious!
Beautiful scenery too.
