This is my first post exclusively of a Temple but many more will come, that is why I have a category for Temples. There are literally thousands of really nice Temples in Taiwan many of which are very easy to find. Quite often if you find a good night market there will be a popular Temple nearby. Actually that is how markets get started. People gather at popular Temples in mass and people like to eat so starting a market near a Temple is a good idea. In Taiwan next to finding good food probably the easiest thing to find is a nice Temple. So if I write about a Temple there has to be a reason that makes it special and those reasons are what I will share with you.
There are a number of things about the Guandu Temple that make it special: 1.The Guandu Temple is one of the oldest temples in Taiwan so it is historically significant. 2. From the entrance it looks quaint. 3. You pass through a tunnel / cave and when you come out on the other side you see that the Temple is not quaint but huge. 4. It has a fantastic garden / park. 5. On a clear day it is scenic. 6. There is a lot to do and see in the area such as biking, walking, a bird sanctuary, a wharf, horses, the Guandu Bridge. For me the Guandu Temple has passed the test of time. Even after seeing it many times over the years I was still in awe when I saw it today.
